Are you tired of spending thousands of dollars each year at
the nail salon? If you’re like most of the country budgets
are tighter than ever. To compensate for high gas prices and
the rising cost of food, tanning and massages salons are
seeing a decline in customers due to the economy. In addition,
many women are forgoing their weekly trip to their professional
nail technician and are doing their nails at home. However,
knowing how to properly buff and prepare their nails can be a
challenge. If not done correctly, you can actually damage your
nails. So, take a look at these easy steps and learn the
correct way to buff nails.

Use Salon Products and Tools
There are thousands of nail products on the market today and
knowing which tools you need to properly buff your nails can
be tricky. However, if you visit your local beauty store you
will need to pick up only a few products. First, a handheld
nail buffer is essential on your list of supplies. These look
similar to emery boards; however they have several different
colored panels and appear more like a foam block. You may also
want to grab a few bottles of colored polish or OPI polish in
French white if you’d like to give yourself a French manicure.

Before Filing or Buffing…..
Before you start filing away at your nails, there are a few
things you should do first. Be sure to remove all old polish
with a gentle finger nail polish remover. Look for those
without acetone for the gentlest results. After getting rid
of the polish, soak your hands in warm soapy water for ten
minutes. This will soften your nails and skin to allow you
to not only buff your nails better but also remove the
unwanted cuticle areas. You can make your own homemade hand
spa by filling a large bowl with warm water and adding a small
amount of scented bath oil to the water. After soaking your
hands, be sure to dry them completely.

Buff Nails the Right Way
To begin, grab your nail buffer and file your nails as you
normally would (rounded, square or oval). With the roughest
side of the buffer, start to buff your nails. Use a gently
side-to-side motion when doing this. The main purpose of this
phase is to smooth out any major ridges your nails may have.
Next, use the next roughest side of your buffer and repeat
the process. This will further work any ridges out of your
nail area. To finish the buffing phase, utilize the smoothest
part of the buffer to polish your nails until they shine. Be
sure not to be too rough when you are using the first few
sides of the buffer. These are meant to only be used gently
on the nails. Being too aggressive can lead to a split or
chip in the nail, which is almost always difficult to repair
properly.

Tips for Professional Salon Results
After you’ve successfully buffed your nails, consider taking
your homemade manicure to the next level. Grab your favorite
lotion (with or without sun block) and a pair of clean cotton
gloves (socks will work if you don’t have gloves). Lather your
hands in the lotion, put them into the gloves and wait for
ten minutes. When you pull your hands out, wash and dry them
well. You will find they are incredibly natural and soft! Be
sure to wipe your nails well, apply a top coat of polish and
begin painting them in your desired color. Allow the first
coat of polish to set and apply another thin coat. Finish
with a top coat and allow it to dry.As you can see, getting
beautiful nails doesn’t necessarily require an expensive trip
to the salon. So, instead of spending money on artificial
acrylic nails this season, consider taking the natural route
and doing your nails and toe nails yourself at home! m

Like all trends, ’80s Makeup Trends seemed normal at the
time, but looking back by twenty years or so, we can see the
difference in the apparent natural look of today. In the
eighties, women were coming into their own as far as work-
place issues were concerned, and the trends were towards
ultra-smooth color on the face, bright eye and lip shades and
plenty of make-up. The combination of workplace politics and
cheap fluorescent lighting played absolute hell with women’s
makeup, turning foundations and eye shadows (blue was popular)
into strange colors indeed. And makeup was important if you
wanted to be taken seriously. It was quite usual for a woman
to apply a full set of makeup—foundation, powder, lipstick and
liner, mascara, eyeliner and eye shadow—to go to work. Like
most fads, 80s makeup trends looked good: nowadays, women who
make up that heavily look like they have something to hide.

For the perfect eighties theme party costume…

But if you’re going to an 80’s style retro party, you can
easily create the eighties look. Fashions are easy: a matching
dress or skirt suit with big shoulder pads, preferably in a
bright color is a good start. Heels are imperative, and hair
should be big and fluffy but very controlled. Remember, the
’80s look is all about minimizing flaws but maximizing power.
It was the decade of the woman’s power suit, along with power
lipsticks in bright reds and power perfumes heavy on the
oriental floral scents. Need a model? For a perfect ’80s hair
style and suits, look at reruns of Designing Women.

Put some glamour into your eighties look…

But if you’re looking to do something more glam, Madonna is
your model. Not the Madonna of today, with her London-Pilates-
yoga chic, but the younger, earthy, in-your-face fashionista
who successful combined wedding gowns with soldier boots. Any
woman who was a teen in the eighties probably has a mental
picture of Madonna that makes ordinary eighties clothing and
makeup look like something from another century. Madonna wore
makeup, all right, but she wasn’t afraid to tear it up with
plenty of white foundation and stark black eyeliners. Eighties
fashion for the fashionable was all about extremes: shock had
its value, and the idea that everyday women were wearing
shoulder pads and big brass buttons to claim their share of the
glass ceiling workplace was laughable. There was an interesting
thing happening in the 1980’s: some women were trying to climb
the corporate ladder while others were trying to capitalize on
a sort of brooding sexuality. The combination was confusing,
since the clothes were hard edged but the faces were hidden
under piles of makeup. It’s almost like women had taken up full
body and face armor to meet the wars of the workplace.

80s hair and make-up styles…

Glam came along in the 1980s, and the cosmetic and clothing
fashions were a combination of Star Trek and an Illinois Human
Resources convention. Glam makeup practically preceded the wearer
into the room: we’re talking eyes so smoky they teared from all
the goopy makeup, and big, pillowy, pouty lips, the kind of lips
that say, “kiss me and then I’ll sue you for sexual harassment”.
The average woman put on a lot of makeup, did things to her hair
with curling irons and bright hair dye color, blow dryers and
three kinds of gel, and then it was time to do her eyebrows.

More 80’s fashion and outfit ideas…

Other 80’s styles included workout gear, because the 80’s was
the time when aerobics really hit the big time. Jane Fonda’s
workout video made leg warmers a must-have, and it became
fashionable to be thin so you could look really great in your
gym wear. We saw the advent of lavender jogging suits for women,
millions of cross trainers and meaningless little visors for
running in the sun while it burned the top of your head.
Sunglasses were big, so big in fact, that they reduced the
wearer’s face to the size of a bug’s. Indoor glasses were also
big and round, covering from cheek to eyebrow and resulting in
glasses wearers pouring on even more eye makeup than ever before.

Natural Eyelashes: Lengthening, Thickening & Sculpting With
Mascara Products

Are you in need of mascara and eyelash enhancement tips but
are not quite ready to apply the fake eyelashes? Don’t worry,
you are not alone! Day and day out, women who have in the past
been curling their lashes, looking for the ideal lengthening
products, and were not adverse to trying the supposedly
organic and hypoallergenic mascara products dictated by
cosmetic lore, are finally at a point where they are ready to
leave behind the products that did little more than cake onto
their eyelashes and –since being waterproof – took a long time
to safely remove.

Ideal Mascara Products Won’t Cake or Clump

Begin your eyelash routine by using natural tools for
conditioning them. Vaseline and even olive oil applied in
moderate amounts are known to increase the health of
individual eyelashes and thus prime the canvas for the
application of mascaras like Max Factor, Kiss Me, La Femme,
Maybelline and of course L’Oreal. Using bargain basement or
no-name mascara is discouraged since it often contains fillers
that are all but guaranteed to clump on your lashes at the first
opportunity. If your eyelashes have suffered and you might have
some bald patches on your lids, dispense with the use of mascara –
even double wear products – and instead add an eyelash growth
product to your beauty routine. After about six to eight weeks of
consistent application, you will be rewarded with natural, longer
lashes.

To avoid that ugly cake or clump of mascara, be sure to curl your
eyelashes prior to applying the cosmetic. In addition to the
foregoing, place a very light dusting of powder on your eyelashes
for the mascara to properly adhere to and not slide off, forming
odd clumps on the tips of your lashes. Putting on mascara – even
the brushless variety – is a bit of an art and you may have to
experiment with different techniques to find one that works best
for getting that thick, healthy and voluptuous look you are
aiming for.

Best Way to Apply Mascara to Eyelashes

The current wisdom suggests applying mascara by holding the brush
still but blinking your eyelids over it and allowing the lashes
to pick up their own coating. You should apply a second coat of
mascara only to the top lashes for a long lasting, voluminous
look. Have a mineral oil based eye makeup remover on standby to
correct any mistakes without having to take off all the mascara.
As a final thought, whenever possible, please purchase cruelty
free products that will allow you to use products without the
stain of unnecessary animal testing attached.

Get Rid the Gray Hair
The fastest way to take years off of your look is to get rid
of gray hair. It’s less noticeable and more natural to begin
coloring your hair when you first begin to go gray. An
easy-to-use product formulated specifically for men, such as
Just For Men Haircolor, can be used at home to cover gray hair
with natural looking results.

If your beard and mustache turns gray first, the makers of Just
For Men Haircolor have a brush-in gel in a no-drip formula
that’s perfect for covering facial hair.

Go Short if You’re Balding
Balding is another common problem among men. Opting for a comb-
over just dates your look. Get comfortable with your changing
look and opt for a modern short haircut.

When men begin to lose the hair on their heads, they may begin
to notice unwanted hair in other places, like their nose, ears
or back. Be sure to trim or wax unwanted hair for a clean,
contemporary look.

Protect and Pamper Your Skin
The best way to prevent wrinkles and skin cancer is to protect
your skin from sun damage by using a daily moisturizer with
sunscreen.

A good daily skin care routine includes cleansing, followed by
a gentle facial exfoliant scrub, which also enhances shaving
ease and comfort. Follow with a moisturizer containing sunscreen
for day and at night a moisturizer with AHAs to encourage skin
regeneration.

Pay Attention to Hands and Feet
Don’t forget to include your hands and feet in your grooming
routine. Well-manicured nails and toes contribute to good
hygiene and grooming habits. Make time to clip and file your
nails at home.

Foot odor is a common problem among many men, and is relatively
easy to treat. Scrub your feet daily and dry them completely.
Insert a pair of Odor-Eaters Insoles into your shoes, which will
absorb wetness and odor.

Quick Grooming Tips

If you don’t iron your clothes, remove them immediately from the
dryer so wrinkles don’t set.

In hot weather, wear light-colored, cotton clothing and socks.
This will absorb less heat and “sweat stains” will be less visible.

Consider trimming your arm pit hairs in warm weather. Less hairs,
less bacteria, less smell. Think about it.

Don’t be reluctant to trim or tweeze any stray eyebrow hairs.

Good dental hygiene means a dazzling smile.

Open your eyes. If hair is the frame for your face, the eyes are
the windows. Use eye drops to whiten the whites of your eyes for
a fresher, younger look.
Extend the Life of Your Razor Blades

All you need is a bottle of mineral oil and some rubbing alcohol.
After shaving, thoroughly clean and dry your razor blades and then
completely immerse the razor head in a shallow dish filled with
mineral oil. Use the rubbing alcohol to wash away the oil next time
you need to use the razor.

By immersing the blades in oil, you stop the oxidization process
that dulls their sharp edges. A daily mineral oil soak can double
or even triple the life of your cartridges.

Insomnia is caused by so many factors that you can have one
reason or six, each one potent enough to keep a person awake.
When I can’t sleep, I consider the following possible causes:

Common cause of insomnia and sleep deprivation disorder

1. Caffeine. Some people get jittery after a single cup of
coffee and others can drink gallons with no discernable effect.
In some situations, drinking moderate amounts of caffeine
(which includes tea and cola, by the way) seems to have no
effect until you’ve been at it for several days in a row.

2. Stress. If you’re worried or tense, insomnia comes along as
part of the package. You can try a couple of techniques to
relieve your tension enough to get to sleep.

a. Promise yourself you’ll deal with whatever it is the very
first thing in the morning. If you’re like me, putting off
paying a bill or making an unpleasant phone call can worry at
me until I can’t sleep. Promising to solve the problem helps
you to temporarily shelve it (but you’d better keep that
promise, or you’ll never trust yourself again!)

b. Setting aside a daily time for worry can help you contain it.
Take ten minutes out of each day and worry like crazy. Make
lists of the things you’re agonizing over, then rate each item
from 1-10 on a “likelihood of happening” scale. When you find
yourself worrying at other times of the day or night, remind
yourself that you’ll worry tomorrow, at 3PM and set it aside.

c. Imagine yourself taking a bundle of worries and locking them
inside a cabinet. Take your time and be thorough. They may try
to wiggle away or sneak out, but gather them all together. You
may decide to put rubber bands around them or have them sedated.
You might want to tie them together and roll them up like a fire
hose. Be as creative as you can when picturing your worries and
the way you’re going to handle them. Will you stow them in an
iron-bound trunk? A cedar chest? A garage or barn? Visualize the
type of lock you’ll use and see yourself locking the door or
cabinet. Sometimes, just elaborating on this exercise is enough
to put yourself to sleep.

d. If nothing you try seems to work, consider visiting a
therapist to help you learn more about reducing your anxiety.
Medications have proven very effective.

4. Hormones. Insomnia can result from hormonal fluctuations.
Keeping an insomnia diary can help you figure out if sleeplessness
is linked to your menstrual cycle. Sleeplessness is also one of
the symptoms of menopause. If you’re generally content with the
way your hormones are performing, you may choose to induce sleep
by having an extra glass of wine at night, or a hot bath. If
hormones are causing you real problems, try herbal remedies or
go have a chat with your ob-gyn about the latest in the medical
community’s understanding about women’s sexual health.

Cont’d Below…

5. Sugar. Eating late snacks or desserts can cause insomnia as
your blood sugar races around trying to find something to do.
Replace sweets with sugar-free snacks and see if it helps.
Eating a meal late at night can also cause insomnia, either
because of the rise in blood sugar or because trying to sleep
before your meal is fully assimilated can give you indigestion.

6. Exercise. Studies have shown that when people exercise later
in the evening, they also tend to have a harder time getting to
sleep.

7. Too much alcohol. If you drink a lot, sleeplessness occurs
when the body rebounds from the depressant effect of alcohol on
the central nervous system. This happens to chronic alcoholics,
but also to people who don’t usually drink much but make an
exception at a bachelor party and have more than a couple.
Typically, alcohol makes us sleepy, but as the alcohol is
metabolized by the body, the change wakes us up. Too much sugar
can work the same way in reverse, first making us high and
lively, then sending the blood sugar into a crashing low. Sugar
is often a major cause of sleeplessness in children. They get
hopped up on popsicles and won’t go down for a nap. When a
grown-up tries to get them to nap anyway, the blood sugar crash
comes along, and the result is a screeching, wailing, but
exhausted child. Fun stuff, huh!

We’ve all seen the commercials for pain relievers and cold
medicines with “sleep aids”, which often consist of either
decongestants or alcohol. There are also herbal remedies,
usually containing chamomile, which is a sleep aid know world-
wide since medieval times. Valerian root smells stinky, even
ground and in capsule form, but it’s also effective and gentle.
Of course, there are always pharmaceutical remedies for
sleeplessness, but they should be last resorts, because they
tend to be habit-forming and have other side effects.

If you don’t have to go to work the next morning, insomnia can
be pretty manageable. You might find that with punchiness comes
creativity, so I wouldn’t rule out getting out of bed to sketch,
bake or plan next year’s garden. Also, not having the stress of
counting the hours until you have to get to work can often calm
you down to the point of relaxation. If you’re expected at work
the next day, you could call in sick the night before. Then, if
you can’t get to sleep, you can stay home and rest the next day,
and if you can get to sleep, you can show up the next day.

You probably see all sorts of shampoo or conditioner ads that
claim to fix split ends, but let’s start by acknowledging the
fact that the only way to fix split ends is to cut them off.
You can’t mend split ends, but you can trim them away and
give the hair a chance to grow out again under more favorable
conditions.

Preventing Split Ends
On the other hand, you can prevent split ends to some extent
by keeping your hair from drying out. The main causes of split
ends are time and dryness. Drying and aging hair tends to
become brittle and break: keeping it in good shape can hold
split ends at bay longer than usual, so treating your hair
with kindness is a good rule.

Ethnic Hair can be prone to more split ends
African American women often have a tougher time keeping the
split ends away: their hair tends to be thinner and fragile,
easily damaged. Keeping breakage to a minimum involves avoiding
heat, permanent or straightening fluids and daily styling with
irons or hair driers. Coloring hair weakens its structure and
makes it even weaker, so that women with black hair who want to
use colorants run the risk of thinning their hair or winding up
with bald spots. African American hair demands extra gentle
treatment and frequent conditioning with rich emollients such
as shea butter or coconut oil. These natural remedies are also
ideal for keeping the scalp healthy. Keeping Black hair in its
natural state is healthiest—forget straighteners or colors and
your hair will be stronger and shinier. Tight braids can also
damage your hair and may even damage the roots, which can cause
you to lose your hair in places, so keep it loose as possible.
If you must color your hair, go for henna, which smoothes the
hair shaft and deposits the color atop the hair instead of
opening the cuticle and adding the color inside the hair. Henna
doesn’t last quite as long as chemically-based permanent colors,
but it actually makes hair healthier when you use it: other
colors make it weaker.

No forever solution to stop spilt ends for occurring
Eventually, all hair will develop split ends if it isn’t cared
for properly. Most hair experts recommend getting a trim every
6-8 weeks, so ends don’t have a chance to dry out and split.
The beauty of your hair really shows when it’s shiny, glossy
and thick. Keeping the tips trimmed is protection from further
damage: split ends tend to work their way up the hair shaft as
it sustains further damage over time. The solution to split
ends is to act quickly: don’t skip the trip to the salon, or
get your hair stylist to teach you how to trim your own hair
if you don’t like to go in that often.

Breakage and Frizzy Hair Texture is Not from Split Ends!
Don’t mistake frizzies for split ends. If your hair looks
frumpy or frowsy, the ends might be just fine, but the hair
shaft is roughed up from humidity in the air or dryness from
harsh shampoos. If you’ve had your ends trimmed but still see
a fuzzy halo around your hair, try using one of the new hair
smoothing treatments. Usually consisting of a solution of
dimethicone, these smoothers add a gloss to your hair that
makes it shiny and more manageable. They don’t really do
anything to nourish or improve your hair, but they coat the
hair the same way furniture polish makes your tables look
shiny, and they wash out with each shampoo.

Most women over thirty will at some point wonder how to get
rid of under eye circles. There are three ways to attack the
problem of dark under-eye circles: prevention, topical
application and cosmetic restoration. Holistic prevention,
while being the easiest solution for some people is also the
least effective for most.

What Causes Under-Eye Circles & Darkness
Dark circles under the eyes tends to be a genetic issue and
practically unavoidable if dark under eye areas run in your
family. But for people whose genetic background doesn’t
predispose them to dark circles, the easiest solution may be
to get some sleep and drink a lot more water. One of the first
signs of fatigue or dehydration is dark circles that appear
under the eyes. The under-eye skin is thin, with a membrane
that runs between a fatty layer and the outer layer of skin we
see. When your body needs water, it shows up around the eyes
first. Drinking liquor causes dehydration, as does over
consumption of sugar and caffeine. Stress also causes under
eye puffiness. Diet can impact your face too, especially if
you have food allergies, and sulfites in wine can wreak havoc
on the delicate skin around your eyes. So, once again, the
answer nobody wants to hear: you might be able to banish
undereye circles from within by taking care of your health.

Natural Home Remedies for Dark Under Eye Circles
But home remedies can only do so much. If your dark under eye
circles don’t budge even after a long nap and eight glasses of
water a day, it’s time to go the cosmetic or make up route.
There are lots of options here, some more useful than others.
Moisturizers are helpful mainly in that if you have lines
around your eyes, the shine from the moisturizer will help
lessen them and create a lighter look. Look for moisturizers
with natural ingredients such as avocado oil, sesame, Vitamin K
and Vitamin E. Moisturizer also works well as a base for under
eye makeup like concealer because it smoothes the skin and
makes it easier to apply a tinted cosmetic. There are no
make-up secrets here: moisturizer will help other makeup keep
from caking.

Best Beauty Product to Hide Dark Eye Circles
The best beauty product for under eye circles is concealer, and
most makeup artists agree that it’s important to use one with a
slight golden color, as yellow tones counteract dark ones.
Chamomile has long been known as a natural remedy for skin, and
some concealers contain this ingredient which can help cure as
it covers. Concealer is great for dealing with dark circles as
long as you get the right shade and apply it correctly. Some
women make the mistake of choosing a concealer that’s too light:
then you wind up with reverse-raccoon eyes, where the whiteness
under your eyes looks strange and somewhat alien. The ideal
concealer is usually a shade lighter than your foundation. To
some extent, the area under the eyes is somewhat shadier than
the rest of your face because the eye sockets naturally are
somewhat receded into the face. If your concealer is too light,
your eyes will disappear in the glare.

Non Surgical and Surgical Treatments to Correct Puffy Under Eyes
If you’re tired of trying to erase your circles with eye cream,
you may be looking for a treatment or even a cure. Looking tired
all the time can affect your morale as well as the way people
treat you. There are non-surgical options to eliminate puffy or
dark undereye areas: injections performed by cosmetic surgeons
can fill the hollows, and need repeating every three or four
months. A really good ocularfacial surgeon can tighten the skin
of the eyelids, reducing the puffiness and eliminating the dark
circles for years to come. Called blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery
can get rid of dark circles, puffy upper or lower eyelids and
hollow, tired looking eyes. If you go this route, make sure to
find a specialist who has done thousands of eyelids, ask to see
before and after pictures and check with the local medical board
to check the surgeon’s history with other patients.

Although most foot care experts say that clipping toe nails
straight across helps prevent in grown toenails, you may
still fall victim to one anyway: it doesn’t mean you’re a
bad person, it can happen to anyone. Shoes that don’t fit
right can cause an ingrown nail, as can just being on your
feet or walking a lot. If a nail is becoming ingrown, you’ll
first notice that it’s feeling tender where the nail is
pushing into the side of your skin. You may find yourself
favoring that foot, or pressing your toe against the inside
of your shoes.

If you don’t catch it soon enough, the toe will become
inflamed where the nail is digging into the soft skin of
your toe. People who ignore their ingrown toenails end up
having surgery, because things can get infected pretty fast.
I saw a picture of a neglected toenail once, and I’ll never
get the image out of my head.

If you think you’re getting an ingrown toenail, soak your
foot in hot water, and even add some lavender or tea tree
oil to help soften the skin further. After you’ve given it
a good soak, say twenty or thirty minutes, see if you can
pull the embedded nail up on the corner, lifting it away
from the skin. You can use a nail file for this delicate
operation, just barely, slowly sliding it under the edge
of the nail. Be careful that your hand doesn’t slip –the
pain will be enormous. (I probably don’t have to tell you
to be gentle – the agony in your toe will make you ever so
careful!)

Sometimes it takes more than one soaking to get the nail
soft enough to lift from the skin. Especially if you have
thin, sharp nails, they are more likely to bite into the
sides of the toe. If you don’t succeed the first time, dry
off your poor foot, dab on lavender or tea tree oil (they
both have antiseptic and antibiotic properties) or some
Neosporin, and try again tomorrow. In the mean time, stay
off your foot as much as possible, and when you put your
shoes on in the morning, first wrap your toe with a thick,
soft bandage to cushion it.

A newly ingrown toenail will usually concede the feet after
three or four days of gently soaking and cautious prying.
Once the nail lifts past the skin, trim the nail with a
small pair of scissors, and if your toe’s not too sore, file
it smooth. Now you will have a tender, pink channel in your
toe where the nail once pressed. Keep it bandaged and clean.
To prevent infection, apply antibiotics after bathing until
your toe doesn’t hurt anymore.

If the toenail is stubborn and you can’t get it out after
several tries, hobble off to the doctor, who will put it to
rights for you.

Ingrown toenails are like ear infections: some people go their
whole lives without having a single toenail upset, and others
are plagued by then. Once you get one, it’s more likely to
recur, so make sure you treat your feet nicely, buy good shoes
that fit right, and pay attention to any toe pain that arises.

I like to read the old books on how to be beautiful, and one
important adage is to buy the most expensive shoes you can
afford, even if your feet are strange sizes and your shoes
have to be custom-made. It makes sense, considering the
importance of foot health to daily life. Bad shoes can add
corns and bunions even to young feet, and they affect your
posture and back health. Not sexy topics, but prevention is
everything when it comes to caring for your ten dancing toes!

Vitamin C Gives Cosmetic and Skin Benefits

While you’ve likely been focusing on getting all of your
vitamins via your nutrition, the good news is vitamins are
also beneficial to your skin through skin care products! One
of the most popular vitamin additions to skin care products
is Vitamin C. This anti aging vitamin has been studied and
confirmed as being an extremely effective addition to skin
care routines. When antioxidant Vitamin C is added to your
skin, it helps your skin get rid of free radicals. Since
free radicals can greatly damage your skin, the use of
Vitamin C is vital to your skin health! In addition, Vitamin
C can help your body rev up its production of collagen.

Beauty Benefits of Vitamin C
On a beauty note, adding Vitamin C to your skin care routine
can help you look great on many levels. The topical use of
Vitamin C revitalizes your skin, allowing for improvement in
the tone and texture! You will instantly look younger with
smooth and silky skin on your face and body. It works to
protect you against UVB rays and can help you combat sun
damage, wrinkles and photodamage. These are some of the most
common skin worries of women today.

Effective Topical Products with Vitamin C For Skin Care
Cosmetic gurus and their sources are taking note of the power
behind Vitamin C and are adding it and its derivatives to many
products on the market. Derivatives like ascorbyl palmitate and
ascorbic acid are commonly used, because they are less irritating
than Vitamin C itself. Those with sensitive skin can still reap
the protection and natural benefits of Vitamin C, without any
irritation.

Beneficial Vitamin C in Cosmetics
When you start your venture for Vitamin C induced skin care
products, there are a few things to remember. First, remember
there are many claims being made from various companies on their
skin care products. To find the best products with Vitamin C, be
sure to look at the color of the product. Those products with a
yellow or brown tint should be avoided. Vitamin C often turns
these colors when exposed to air and thus becomes ineffective in
creating collagen and elastic.

Vitamin C Offers Cosmetic Benefits
Many women would rather sit through a chemical peel or a
microdermabrasion session for skin care repair and conditioning.
However, using a daily Vitamin C product can help you repair and
prep your skin everyday. You can get products which include
Vitamin C derivatives (L-ascorbic acid and others) for use at
home. Therefore, you can continuously reap the benefits of
Vitamin C, without heading to the spa.

Are you ready to have some fun this Christmas?! Well why not
get a few girlfriends together for a night in with pizza, soda,
and prepare for the festivities with a nail party! No matter
how old or young you are, anybody can make these entertaining
ideas sophisticated and glamorous. And the best thing is, none
of these suggestions will break the bank!

Now use these design ideas as a starting point… I expect you
to get even more inventive as you go. Be brave! Be bold!
Go wild!!

Glitter Chick
Design your own glittery nail varnish. This one’s really easy.
Choose a ‘base’ color, and paint your nails with one coat. Then
immediately sprinkle glitter onto the surface of the wet varnish!
You can use any color glitter that you want. Or why not go for a
rainbow effect, or try to draw on stripes with the glitter? Use
the hairdryer to ensure that the nail varnish is dry. Then finish
the effect with a thin coat of clear varnish… this will ’seal
in’ the glitter, and also stop the glitter from being scratchy.

Seasonal Stencils
Why not try to cut out seasonal shapes to make a stencil? You
could try snowflakes, stars, snowmen etc etc. Once you have made
the stencil, simply lay it over the nail in the desired position.
Then take your varnish brush, and remove the excess polish. (This
should stop the varnish from oozing under the stencil and
spreading everywhere). Now dab at the stencil until you have
built up a solid block of color. Remove the stencil, et voila!
Sensational seasonal nails in seconds!

Crazy Lady
If you’re feeling a little eccentric, this one will be right up
your street! Why not stick cool things onto your nails? Paint
the base color as bright as you want. You can even use a
combination of techniques like stripes or dots to create a really
bold effect. Then take some nail glue, and carefully stick things
like feathers or festive star shaped sequins directly to the nail.
You can co-ordinate these with your outfit, jewelry, or hair
slides, and guarantee that everybody in the room will be looking
at you!

Funky Freehand
If you’re not really artistically inclined, you may well regard
this one as ‘The Master Class’! Try blending colors of polish
directly on your nail. You could use stripes, dots, or even make
up your own funky freehand patterns. Now if you really want to go
to town you can wait for the varnish to dry, and then ‘work into
it’ (as my old art teacher used to say!). Take a permanent marker
and draw onto the top of your nail. You can get much more attention
to detail if it is a fine-liner, even down to the fact that you can
do a dotty pattern exactly around a nail varnish circle. Just make
sure that you give your nails a final coat of clear varnish when
they are dry.
